十九世紀的法國,出現了一群高學歷但生活價值觀卻與一般人迥異,並且不受當時社會傳統習俗約束的文人和藝術家,他們擁有異於常人的藝術思想傾向,也許被視為放蕩不羈,但他們優雅自在的生活,凝聚了一股強大的藝術品味風潮,促進了整個城市生活的藝術化。

19 century in France, there was a group of well-educated literati and artists who have quietly different values from ordinary people and traditional society. Their artistic thought was quietly different from ordinary people and they were regards as unconventional. However, their elegant and free life style triggered a strong wave of artistic taste and facilitated an artistic city life.

 

        有人說十九世紀巴黎之所以能成為國際的時尚與藝術之都,關鍵在於波西米亞人的出現,因為他們背離傳統,卻創造了未來,藝術本來就是需要被自由創造的,知名藝評家蔣勳曾說過:藝術家本身就是一個背叛者,因為背叛陳舊與保守而產生開創和新穎。

Someone said that Paris was the international fashion and art city in 19 century due to the appearance of Bohemian. They betrayed traditions and created futures. Art is meant to be created freely. A well-known art critic Chiang Hsun once said: Artist is a betrayer himself, as he betrays old-fashions and conservatives and brings out innovation and progressive. 

 

        十九世紀末象徵派法國詩人韓波(Rimbaud)曾寫過一段著名的詩句:「La vie est d’ailleurs!」(生活在他方);對照我日常的珠寶創作,當突然發現創作的生活變得平淡庸碌的時候,真實的創作似乎在他方

French Symbolist poet Jean Nicolas Arthur Rimbaud wrote one famous verse: “La vie est dailleurs” (live in elsewhere). In parallel with my daily jewelry creation, true creation is in elsewhere, whenever my creation life falls into ordinary and bored. 

     
        有人問我為什麼會創作沉香珠寶,其實原因真的很多,但仔細地歸納認真地說,是我害怕創作成為一種既定的模式,我常常思考如何改變,讓創意也能肆意地流浪
在不知名的他方。

Why Agardwood Jewelry? Someone asked. There are many reasons and the major one is that I was afraid to be set in a routine. How can I break the routing and make my creation wandering in elsewhere, I contemplate constantly.    

 

        這幾年持續挑戰沉香珠寶的創作極限,過程備受各種質疑,可是沒辦法,骨子裡叛逆的我,就是想在他方,找尋另一個全新可能的創作歸宿,著名的法國小說家米蘭‧昆德拉曾經以「La vie est d’ailleurs!」(生活在他方)為名,建構一部青春的史詩,其實,我也期許自己能是當代珠寶創作的波西米亞人,為珠寶創作開創新的可能性。

I am questioned a lot while I keep challenging the limitation of Agardwood Jewelry creation. I cannot help myself; I was born to against others. I wish to find a brand new home for creation in elsewhere. The well-known novelist Milan Kundera wrote one of his master pieces with the title of La vie est dailleurs!”(live in elsewhere). I expect myself to be the Bohemian in Jewelry creation of the time, and to initiate a new feasibility in Jewelry creation.       


        雖然,沉香珠寶的創作歷程,說實在地,其實異常地孤獨與難熬,這段追逐創作在他方的日子裡,幾度想放棄,因為不斷地失敗與重來,我重複的告訴自己,創作的宿命就是如此,不到終點看不到最後到底是結局還是殘局。

I must say, it is quiet lonely and tough in the journey of Agardwood Jewelry creation. During my creation in elsewhere, I was nearly to give up several times due to the repeated try-and-error; and this is the fate of the creation, I told myself repeatedly. We never know the final result until the end of the game. 

      
        而這中間的沮喪,因為往往是團隊的沮喪,這會讓我的孤獨感更加沉重,我必須不斷聲嘶力竭地信心喊話
喉嚨的痛、心的痛再加上頭痛這些都是陪伴我創作不離不棄的朋友,有人說沒有痛,生命就沒有思考,生命往往在劇痛中才顯得不凡今天看來,這些痛都是該被感謝的。如同蘇東坡的句子:「回首向來蕭瑟處,也無風雨也無晴」。

I was frustrated due to my team’s frustration, and this made me feeling lonely more and more. My sore throat for encouraging the team, and my headache were my companion for creation. Someone said, no pain no life thinking. Life seems to be unordinary when it has infinite pains. Now I realize these pains shall be appreciated. I refer to the verse of Su Dongpo: “Looking back over the bleak passage survived, Shall not be affected by windswept rain or shine.” 

   
        這也許就是我想要的波西米亞式的─優雅。

    This is might be the “Bohemia elegance” I wanted.
